Petal Series

In this body of work, Megan explores movement and light. Many of the sources of inspiration are from international travels, spring petals swirling in the wind, and layers of light reflecting on water.

These works are begun with poured paint and water, which the artist allows to overlap and form a background organically, sometimes manipulated by hand or with other painting tools.

Then, several layers of paint are applied in a unique way. The artist works on the floor primarily and adds brushstrokes in a circular way to mimic the movement of falling leaves, swirling breezes or rippling water.

Each of these works is unique and inspired by different moments spent in nature.

Underwater Series

In this body of work, Megan explores the feeling of overwhelm and anxiety brought about by the pandemic.

These works are begun with poured paint and water, which the artist allows to overlap and form a background organically, sometimes manipulated by hand or with other painting tools.

Then, several layers of paint are applied in methodical, meditative brush strokes. The focus of the work is primarily to release tension and enter flow state.

Each of these works reflects a moment in 2020-21 when the artist was exploring quick paintings that could be completed while simultaneously balancing motherhood, homeschooling and raising a young toddler.

Minimalist Oceans

In this body of work, Megan stretches the depth and viscosity of paints. By adding water to liquid acrylics, she plays with the pigment and absorption of the paint on paper.

These works are an act of meditation.

Megan uses only a few brush strokes to complete these minimalist works, which are unique to her other works. By reducing the act of painting to a single, simple brush stroke, the artist challenges herself to depict moving water with small movements.

Each of these works is inspired by time spent on the seaside all over the world.

Abstract Oceans

In this body of work, Megan explores the movement of oceans and clouds.

These works are painted with a swift, dry brush and acrylic paints. The artist manipulates the paint to create many thin layers, which reveal colors beneath them.

Then, clouds and waves are added to the underpainting, which creates depth and contrast in the work.
